Lecturers:
Professor John Cisar (University of Florida): „The effort to enhance natural resource conservation while providing high performance turfgrass systems.“ John Cisar is a professor of Turfgrass Management and is a faculty member in the University of Florida’s Environmental Horticulture Department. He has conducted research and extension outreach on the environmental impacts of turfgrass management in Florida since 1986. He has focused on factors affecting water conservation, soil water repellency, pesticide fate, nutrient leaching from landscapes, and turf management.
Dr. Michael Fidanza (Pennsylvania State University): „The Biology and Successful Integrated Control Strategies of Common Turfgrass Diseases and Other Problems; Ecology of fairy ring in turfgrass, and control options for golf course superintendents.“ His research is the investigation and evaluation of ecological-based management strategies for turfgrass, including basic research in the plant and soil sciences. Dr. Fidanza has investigated the biology of turfgrass pests, particularly fairy ring, turfgrass ecology, the influence of the environment on turfgrass management, compost as a soil amendment, and his research has led to the development of successful cultural management practices for turfgrass maintenance and management.

Dr. Cale Bigelow (Purdue University, Indiana): „Surface organic matter management strategies for high shoot density bentgrass putting greens; Annual bluegrass reduction and mitigation programs for cool-season golf courses.“ The long-term goals of his research program are to investigate various interactions of physical, chemical and biological soil properties which contribute to innovative and novel management practices for the production of high quality sustainable turfgrass areas with as few management inputs as possible. Current research projects are evaluating various soil amendments, nutrient sources, application rates/timings, and the use of non-ionic soil surfactants to the economically important turfgrass species. Of primary importance is the development of proper nutrient best management practices and the fate of applied nutrients to our environment.

Dr. Stanley Kostka (Director of research and development, Aquatrols corp.): „Soil and water relationship in dry conditions; Effective Soil Water Management for Quality Golf Course Turf.“
There will be identified the methods of possibilities how may forticultural practices influence the conditions on the Golf Course. Greenkeepers will be informed about the soil detergents, which enables to have even quality of turf. The physical and chemical characteristics and its interaction with the soim and plants will be also described.
Implementation of sustainable turf management should lead in reducing the mineral fertilizers, pesticides and irrigation consumption and to reducing negative effects on the environment.

Lecture translation will be organized.
